I normally am not a fan of portraits, but this is one hell of a fine looking beetle! indeed insects have this surreal feel to them, and that makes them cool.

you are right, thats a combination of my camera not really capturing it in appropriate light at 2am in the morning, and i was very tired doing it, i also did it on terrible paper :D however! i endevour to try again with this bird, and do it justice as this was my erm 'entry' my very 1st piece doing an animal in pastels :) but thanks a bunch for the criticism its all helpful and all will go towards helping me improve my artwork :):)
