I pictured a cactus inside when there's snow outside, so the cactus doesn't want to be outside. However you'requite right. There are a lot of places where cacti do very well outside. Also at warm places cold climate plants only do well inside. So the metaphor doesn't quite hold up. But perhaps seemingly antisocial people can also be verysocial when they're among the right people. So like the plants people thrive under different conditions. There's another metaphor that hopefully works.
